What started in the late 90’s as two person jams with drummer Jeff Roddick, and string players Chad Myers and Bob Daugherty, led to jams in the early 2000's with all three players, and the genesis of Masters of Penetration, a completely unknown original band from Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.
The following 7 or 8 years of weekly jams (almost without fail) created a large amount of original material in different styles, as free-form jams took shape into instrumental songs recorded to cassette on a 4-track Tascam Portastudio. The volume was high, the room small, and mic bleed substantial.
Around 2007, Bob spent countless hours editing these tapes into the MOP “album,” adding instrumentation and splicing in movie dialogue. The result was a DIY masterpiece born of friendship, beer, and pure sonic passion.
In recent years, we’ve remixed in stereo, removed uncleared samples, and resurrected raw recordings to deliver music that truly “penetrates your soul.”
← Back to HomeIt sounds fairly vulgar to some, but the guy who coined it explained: “Our goal is to have the music we make penetrate your ears down into your soul.” That cosmic thinking is one reason there are no vocals—“Music is the universal language. English is not.”
Listen to the Album →We found a tasteful image of a woman enveloped in cosmic light online and mocked up a cover. At an after-jam, a spilled beer created a phallic flourish—and we embraced the cosmic accident, never finding the original artist.
